AARP helps people turn their goals and dreams into real possibilities, strengthens communities and fights for the issues that matter most to families — such as employment security, health care and retirement planning. AARP fights for age 50 and over individuals and their families at the local, state and national levels. We work on important issues, such as:
- Leading efforts to strengthen Social Security and promote other retirement savings efforts to help everyone achieve lifetime financial security
- Promoting adequate, affordable health care, including prescription drugs and long-term care
- Fostering communities with affordable and appropriate housing, as well as supportive community features and options for getting around
AARP Nevada held a local dinner at Hong Kong Garden to promote early planning for caregiving. More than 500,000 Nevadans currently serve as family caregivers, providing assistance to an aging parent or other loved one with the tasks of daily living.
Event speaker General Taguba serves as a community ambassador for AARP. After his parents became ill, he and his siblings were faced with tough decisions about their health and finances. To help others, General Taguba now advocates for caregivers and their families, sharing his personal story.
