新年快乐 – Chúc Mừng Năm Mới – 새해 복 많이 받으세요

Happy Lunar New Year from ACDC! We wish you a happy, prosperous, healthy Year of the Water Rabbit & Happy Year of the Cat to our Vietnamese community! Lunar New Year marks the beginning of the lunar calendar year, while ushering in spring. Spring brings along new beginnings and harvests, and this is traditionally welcomed with joyous celebrations including firecrackers, music, lion dancing, and delicious food!

it is a celebration that lasts 15 days (16 to include Lunar New Year’s Eve) and many travel back to their hometowns to see their families during this time. Lunar New Year is celebrated in China, South Korea, Vietnam, and many more countries around the world.

During this time, there are certain things to avoid to make sure bad luck is not ushered in:

  • Hair cutting
  • Using scissors, knives and other sharp things
  • Arguing, swearing
  • Saying unlucky words (such as “death” and “sickness”)
  • Breaking things
  • Sweeping, throwing out garbage
