Reno Celebrates AANHPI Heritage Month with Free Community Event at McKinley Arts & Culture Center
WHAT: The annual ‘AANHPI Heritage Celebration’ is a collaboration between the City of Reno, the Asian Community Development Council (ACDC), and One APIA Nevada to host a community festival in honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The event will move to a new location at McKinley Arts & Culture Center. Highlights include:
AANHPI Food Truck Vendors: Malaya Eats (Filipino), Bali Express (Balinese/Indonesian), Mr. Yummy Yummy (Chinese), Tuk-Tuk Thai street food (Thai), Grand Pinoy Fiesta (Filipino) and more
Live cultural performances by Reno Taiko, Halau Hula O Noelani, Ascend Martial Arts, and more
Community resource booths from City of Reno, ACDC, One APIA Nevada, Korean community, Bangladeshi community, and more to provide assistance with healthcare, food aid, civic engagement, and cultural awareness
WHY: The celebration highlights the fastest growing population in Nevada, making up 14% of the state. It also serves to uplift the community’s cultural history, artistic contributions, and provides direct economic support to diverse local small businesses.
